During this week, you fill up your senses while cruising through blue water, watching the beautiful coastline, gazing at millions of stars and perhaps having the extraordinary experience of being with dolphins. The combination of this and being far away from distraction and day to day life, encourages us to find total relaxation on board of the New Horizons.
We start our cruise on Saturday in the capital of Malta, discovering the creeks and the grand harbour with specular views on Valletta. Imagine megalithic temples, baroque churches, narrow antique streets, and hilltop citadels. They are Malta’s human legacy. Valletta is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will experience Valletta and the Grand Harbour from the sea with majestic views of the island’s fortifications.
As we sail further along the Maltese coast line to the north, you’ll be amazed by the dizzying limestone cliffs, sparkling Mediterranean seas, and charming rural landscapes. They make up the natural beauty of Malta. There is no fixed time schedule. We cruise past Sliema, St. Julians, St.Andrews, Salina Bay, St. Paul’s Bay and the island where St. Paul was shipwrecked in 60 A.D. and Mellieħa Bay. During this cruise we anchor in breathtaking bays and our tender can bring you ashore to visit places like Rabat, Mdina, Mosta and/or Mellieha.
In its 7,000 years of human history on Malta, it has been overrun by every major Mediterranean power: Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans, Byzantines, and Arabs; Normans, Swabians, Angevins, Aragonese, the French and the British. The islands’ history with the Knights of the Order of St. John has given them their lasting character. The handsome limestone buildings and fortifications that the wealthy Knights left behind are all around the islands.
Next on the horizon is Comino. The island is tiny in size, with just one hotel, but it is otherwise uninhabited and is surrounded by the most scintillating and transparent waters in the Mediterranean. Comino’s unforgettable crystal clear waters of the magical Blue Lagoon are a natural swimming pool. Without urban areas or cars, there is no pollution or noise – just quiet and serenity.
From there it is just a small distance to an island, that is thought to be the legendary Calypso’s isle of Homer’s Odyssey, Gozo. Baroque churches and old stone farmhouses dot the countryside. Gozo’s rugged landscape and spectacular coastline await exploration.
Gozo has numerous historical sites, forts and amazing panoramas, as well as the ancient megalithic temples of Ġgantija, a World Heritage site. Older than both the pyramids and Stonehenge, the giant structures of Ġgantija were built by civilizations that thrived here more than 5,000 years ago.
Thursday evening, we leave Gozo for a beautiful sunset and a night of sailing under the million of stars of the Milky way as we head for Sicily. You can decide to doze off on deck, sleep in your cabin or participate in the night watch. Nothing is mandatory, but all is possible.

In the early morning of Friday, we will reach the largest Mediterranean island, Sicily. We drop anchor near Pozzallo, in front of a postcard beach with white sand and turquoise waters. The beaches are pristine, so white, so clean and so perfect. You’ll have this last day of the cruise to relax on board, go to one of to the sandy beaches or discover the south west part of Sicily.
Saturday, the final day. After more than half a year of cruising on the Mediterranean Sea, this journey comes to an end where we started in Sicily, a magical island and one of the most central locations in the Mediterranean Sea. The New Horizons will be docked on shore and serviced for next year’s season of sailing.
